Thursday, March 3 - Not What It Used To Be (Napa, CA)

 

Yesterday it rained most of the day so we stayed in and I got caught up on laundry.

Today we decided to go to the Napa Valley Museum. The 1st floor of the museum was of art from recycled items as was outside.

There were several artist's work displayed here, the one I like the most was Chris Blum.

This one is made from so many different things, I also took a close up of the eye.

We were hungry after leaving, so we went to the nearby town of Yountville. It was a very cute small town and we ate at a cute little place called Pacific Blues Cafe then walked over to Bouchon Bakery to get a coffee and pastry for dessert.

We walked around some of the shops before heading to the outlet stores. Jesse needed a new pair of sneakers and he found a pair.

We came home, watched American Idol and I think the top 10 are really GREAT!

We had soup for dinner and relaxed for the remainder of the evening.

Tuesday, March 1 - Time with Brian (Napa, CA)

 

I received notification that our mail was delivered to the post office, so Jesse went out and picked it up while I got dressed for the day.

My eldest nephew Brian who has spent 16 years in the Air Force and now stationed at Dover AFB, Delaware has been placed at Travis AFB for a month long school. The base is about 30 miles from where we are staying. (I didn’t take his picture today so this is from a previous time)

So today we picked him up when he was finished with class. He met us at the visitors center because we couldn’t get on base to pick him up at his living quarters.

We took him to Marie Calendars for some dinner. We got caught up on what’s been going on with him, Shannon and the girls since we saw him last fall on the eastern shore.

We got an apple pie to take home for dessert and headed back to the RV.

We all sat around watched TV while we continued to talk about many different subjects, it is always nice to spend time with Brain. He was my 1st nephew and holds a special place in my heart.

Around 9:00 we drove him back to the base and came home and went to bed.

Looking forward to the weekend because we have plans with Brian, he doesn’t have class on the weekend.

Monday, February 28 - Wine Tasting (Napa, CA)

 

Today we decided to go to some wineries and do some tasting.

But 1st - Saturday.

We went to the movies to see “The Kings Speech”.  After watching the Oscars we were glad we did.

Sunday

We were recliner (couch) potatoes.

Our first tasting was at Ravenswood winery in Sonoma.

We shared a $10 tasting of 5 different wines. All were very good, some I liked better than others.

I worked for a wine distributor “Bacchus Importers”  when we lived in Maryland as a bookkeeper for three years. This was one the the wineries we purchased from.

Bob the gentleman that did our tasting was very knowledge about the area. He informed us that their are over 400 wineries in the Napa, Sonoma, St Helena area. The rainy season is November-March. Some vines are over 100 years old, but most are replaced every 25 years because they bear better fruit.

Then we went to Beringer.

They have it set-up so you can do a tour of the tunnels were the wine is stored. We arrived about 40 minutes before the next tour so we went to the store and the tasting rooms first. We walked around outside and Jesse was examining the fence?

These smaller barrels hold about 288 bottles of wine.

In the tunnels they have some tasting rooms that are rented for gatherings, I didn’t ask the price. The tables were just gorgeous.

The whole tour was very interesting and informative.

By the time we were finished it was certainly time to go home to the boys and as always they were very happy to see us. We had salad and leftovers for dinner and hung out for the rest of the evening.
