Fun, Fun Fun!!

Fun, Fun Fun!!

Sunday, November 11 - New Rig (Tucson/Gold Canyon, AZ)

Starting  where we left off.

We left from breakfast and went straight to Lazydays RV in Tucson AZ. They had a 2008 Mobile Suites Model 36SB3 for sale. That was the only rig we wanted to see.

We knew this was the rig for us. We have always wanted a Mobile Suites we just needed to see if we could work out the money.

Jane was our sales person so we went back to her office. They gave us a price, we were interested, as it was within our price range.

This being the last day of the month they wanted to make their sales quota so they offered us a deal we couldn’t refuse. The only hiccup was that we needed to go back to Gold Canyon and get our Alpine and bring it back to Tucson tonight, because they needed the trade in to be on property to make the deal.

By this time it was 2:30PM and we drove back to Gold Canyon, packed up the rig and drove back to Lazydays. It was 8:15pm by this time. They did a walk through our rig at the service department and were very pleased with our Alpine.

We went back to the finance office to do the necessary paper work and we now owned a Double Tree 5th wheel!

They put us up in the campground which was very nice. It had bushes that separated you from your neighbor, a concrete patio with table and chairs and a grassy area. They had a nice club house with a restaurant.

By the time we were set up we were exhausted. We had not eaten since breakfast. I warmed up some left over hot dogs, then we went to bed.

Over the next couple of days we waited for them to do a few items we wanted them to do and to clean the rig.

Finally on Saturday about 3pm we were moved to the transition area so we could move into our new home. One of the things we wanted to have done was to cut the bed down from a King size to a Queen size. We wanted to use our existing queen size air mattress.

That was the 1st thing we moved. We worked until around 7pm moving things in. I made sure we had the necessary things so that we could sleep in our new home that night.

We love it already!!

On Sunday Bob and Barb / Gary and Darlene and Riley their dog drove up to see our new rig. They helped us move!! It was sooo nice of them and they worked really hard. I was so grateful we were just about finished by 2:00. Thanks for all your help!!!

We were all hungry so we drove over to Subway for a sandwich.

We waited on Monday for them to come and set up the satellite receiver (which was the last thing they needed to do). By the time they were finished it was too late to travel.

We waited until Tuesday morning and headed back to Gold Canyon.

We got parked and started to set up. Bob, Janet, Ed and Marilyn came by to welcome us back and E&M brought us dinner. Thanks so much guys!

Now the days are getting confusing, as to which day it was.

One day we went over to E&M for an afternoon to visit with Greg and Barb Jones. it was nice to see them again and get caught up.

One day we hosted a happy hour so everyone could see the rig all set-up.

Another day we met the gang at a local Mexican restaurant for lunch.  Friday morning we met Bob and Ed at the Buzz.

Saturday night E&M had us over for dinner and to meet Trent and Teresa. Ed made beef vegetable soup, Janet brought deli sandwiches and I made a pineapple upside down cake.

It was the coldest day we have had since we have been here. We ate dinner outside then went inside to have dessert and warm up.

We had a great time as always!

Sunday Ed, Marilyn, Bob Jesse and I went to the swap meet. We all walked around looking at all the stuff for sale and just having a fun time.

After Marilyn rode with me, we went to Bed Bath and Beyond so I could find a bedspread for our bed. I found one I liked and it was on sale!.

Here are some pictures of our new home:

Wednesday, October 31 – Trip to Benson, AZ

On Monday 10/28 we packed up the boys and drove to Benson, AZ in the car. It was just under 3 hours driving time and the main purpose was to meet up with Ed and Marilyn (E&M) / Bob and Janet (B&J) on Monday to tour the area.

We went on Sunday so we could also spend time with Bob and Barb / Gary and Darlene.  We met these nice people when we worked at Amazon in the fall of 2011. We also saw Bob and Barb (B&B) when we attended the Escapades.

They are work camping at Cochise Terrace RV Resort. It was a nice place and really nice sites.

We arrived about 11am and sat outside with our friends just enjoying the nice weather and the conversation.

Gary and Darlene have a Pekingese/Yorkie mix that was very cute. He came out to play with our Boys and after the 1st introduction they got along great!

After a while we went into town for some lunch. We decided on Horseshoe Café. The 6 of us enjoyed our lunch and lingered chatting.

After we left we went to check into the Motel 6 and called E&M. They said to come over to have happy hour with them. We went over to Kartchner Caverns State Park, which is where they were staying along with Bob and Janet,

It was so good to see them all again and we enjoyed just sitting outside having lots of laughs and conversation.

When we left there it was dark and we went back to Bob and Barbs and played cards with them.

They have a cat named Gypsy and Buddy wanted to play.

Bayer just sat under the table hoping we might drop some snacks.

We left there about 9:30 and went back to the motel and collapsed, we were tired.  The bed was very uncomfortable and neither of us slept good that night.

We met E&M and B&J at their campsite Tuesday morning at 9am. After Ed gave us one of his walkie talkie’s so we could communicate going down the road we followed E&M and B&J in Marilyn’s new car and headed out to Tombstone.

We walked around the town and took some pictures.

Ed made me take this one!

IMG_1544             After walking around we then drove over to Bisbee.

IMG_1546

It was a cute little town that reminded me of Eureka Springs, AK.

IMG_1553

We were all ready for lunch so we stopped in a little place that had home made soups, sandwiches, and baked goods.

IMG_1547IMG_1548

Unfortunately, while eating her lunch Janet got a nose bleed and went outside. Bob went out to be with her and when we all came outside she was doing okay.

When went back towards Tombstone so we could see Boothill Graveyard

IMG_1554

The boys couldn’t go into the graveyard so I stayed in the car. Jesse went with the others and took pictures.

IMG_1555IMG_1557IMG_1559IMG_1562

We then went back to Kartchner State Park and sat outside for several hours. It seems there is never an end to the conversations the 6 of us can talk about.

We were back in our motel very tired puppies and humans. We brought back a bite to eat from KFC and watched a little TV and went to bed. The bed was still very uncomfortable but we slept a little better because we were just so tired.

Halloween1

Wednesday we got up and met everyone at the Horseshoe Café for breakfast. B&B, E&M and us. Janet had another nose bleed and had to go to the emergency room at 3am that morning. She is home now just tired and in some pain from the balloon they put in her nose to stop the bleeding.

The six of us had a good breakfast and the conversation was good. This was the first meeting for Bob and Barb and Ed and Marilyn but we all have many people we know in common.

After we all got hugs and Jesse and I went back to the motel to get the boys and pack up the car.

We had prearranged to stop at Lazydays in Tucson to look at a RV …. The rest of the story in the next blog!

Thursday, October 26 - 4 Days Gone By (Gold Canyon, AZ)

On Monday we went to Walmart to do our shopping. It was very busy and the shelves we a little empty. I think we will try the Walmart in Apache Junction next time.

Tuesday was the wine tasting. Wine

I made dinner before we went to the Multi Purpose Building, that way all I needed to do was heat it up when we returned.

It was supposed to be outside on the patio under the sails. I guess it was too hot for outdoors, because it was held in the ballroom.

IMG_1470IMG_1474

It started at 4 pm (Happy Hour). We were to bring an appetizer to share and our own glasses. There was so much finger foods that looked and tasted so good.

When we arrived we were directed to the wine tables to pick up our bottles. We chose one white wine and one red. Then we took a seat at one of the round tables. We were joined by Rita and her niece Sue and another couple Dave and wife Debbie. Nice people!

The whole idea is to mix and mingle and walk around and try different wines. Many people came to our table to share theirs and to try ours. It was much fun and I look forward to the next one in November.

When we got home we were not hungry, we sat outside for awhile before going inside for the evening.

Wednesday we just hung out at home and Thursday we decided to go to the mall and walk around. We went in a few stores and window shopped. Had lunch in the food court and watched all the children. It must have been Halloween Day, as there were many little children in costume. Soooo cute.
