Fun, Fun Fun!!

Fun, Fun Fun!!

Wednesday, November 29 - All About Olives (Gold Canyon, AZ)

Today we, all eight of us, went on an outing to Queen Creek Olive Mill.  They do tours and we learned a few things about olives. Did you know that there are only two kinds of olive red and green (Christmas colors) black olives are made black with lye.

They harvest the trees in October-December (only once a year) and they average 100-150 pounds of olives per tree. Both colors are harvested from one tree and used to make about one gallon of olive oil per tree.

To sum that up one tree harvests one gallon of oil once a year. WOW! They are processed and stored here!

They have a restaurant within the building and a store to purchase oil, olives and vinegars. A very nice outdoor eating area.

You can sample oils and olives which was fun. My favorite was bacon olive oil!

By the time we were finished our tour and purchases it was time for lunch. We decided on Olive Garden. We had a yummy meal of salad, soup, shrimp, chicken, pasta, pizza and bread sticks.

It was a fun time with friends, a great way to spend the day.

Earlier in the week we had happy hour at Trent and Teresa’s. They are staying in the park next door because they are youngster. (our park is 55 and over)

Teresa put out a spread and we had a really fun time and I didn’t need to make dinner.

Thursday, November 22 - Thanksgiving Day (Gold Canyon, AZ)

Today was so wonderful. I have to say it was one the best Thanksgiving Days I have spent. We were so blessed to spend it with our RV family.

Bob and Janet hosted on their patio dinner for us, Ed and Marilyn  -  Trent and Teresa  -  so there were eight of us.                     The table was very festive!

The food could be described in just one word DELICIOUS!!

We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, corn, gravy, yams, noodles, perogies, cranberry, waldorf salad, green bean casserole, wine, iced tea and for dessert we had 3 pies … cherry, apple cranberry, and pumpkin served with ice cream and whipped topping.

After we ate we all made a leftover plate to have for later. So there was enough food to feed 16 people with more left over.

We cleaned up and just sat on the patio relaxing, talking and laughing and enjoying this beautiful day and each others company.

After we had given our meal sometime to settle we had dessert. Then we walked next door to WII bowl.

It was decided to play guys against girls.

The ladies beat the guys 3 out of 4 games.

We were awesome!!

It had gotten dark so we all drove over to a display of Christmas decoration that was really nice.

Friday, November 16 - My Birthday (Gold Canyon, AZ)

Thursday I stayed home and just hung out at home. Doing some laundry and few odds and ends.

Jesse went to visit with another dealership. He found a truck he liked but they just wanted too much money. He, Ed and Bob plan a trip to California early next week to see a big heavy duty truck. I will keep you informed on how that goes.

Today is my birthday. Last years was certainly nothing to write about because I work at Amazon for 10 hours. So I was looking forward to spend time with our friends this year.

I was sadden when Ed and Marilyn and Bob and Janet planned their Grand Canyon trip this week. But being the great friends that they are, they planned to be home early enough today so we could go out to dinner.

After coffee and getting showered Jesse took me to Waffle House for breakfast. We stopped at Bashas Food Store on the way home to pick up a few items and the red velvet birthday cake Jesse had ordered for me. (Sweet isn’t he)

Cake

The rest of the day was spent reading, computering and listening to music.

In the evening we got dressed and met over at Bob and Janet’s. We sat outside with them while they told us of their wonderful trip to the Grand Canyon. That is a special place for E&M (their 18th visit) and they were so happy to take B&J there.

Trent and Teresa pulled up and we all headed in 2 cars to the Mining Camp Restaurant. E&M rode with T&T, while B&J rode with Jesse and I.

We got to the restaurant and they didn’t have our reservation. Luckily they still had room for us and promptly set a table for us. They serve the food family style  -   baked beans, cold slaw, rolls, raisin bread, potato wedges, green beans, ham with pineapple sauce, chicken and dressing, BBQ beef ribs, lemonade, iced tea and for dessert an oatmeal raisin cookie with coffee.

It was a good meal and wonderful being there with our friends, we stuffed ourselves with food and laughter.

After dinner these guys put on a show. They sing, play different instruments and tell jokes.

This guy played a stick with strings on it???

For my birthday they sang and gave me a cookie with ice cream and a candle.

Everyone came back to our place and helped me eat cake and ice cream.

It was a great evening and I am so thankful for good friends and family.

Wednesday, November 14 - Tortilla Flats, Shopping and Movie (Gold Canyon, AZ)

Monday we were going on an adventure. We had a letter to mail and guess who we met in the parking lot? Trent & Teresa were parking their car there so we gave them a ride to Ed and Marilyn’s where we all met.

Since they were all ready in the car we decided for T&T to ride with us, so we could get to know them better and Bob and Janet rode with E&M.

We drove along the windy rode to Tortilla Flats.

Tortilla Flat is an authentic remnant of an old west town, nestled in the midst of the Tonto National Forest, Superstition Mountain Range. As well as being home for six adventurous people, Tortilla Flat has a charm that has surpassed time.

Tortilla Flat started out as a stage stop in 1904. Mosey down the boardwalk and visit the Superstition Saloon. Real saddles serve as bar stools where you can enjoy a cold brew or sarsaparilla. The unique wallpaper is really dollar bills from visitors world wide.

The Restaurant serves the big burgers, with chili on top served open face with Fries. Everyone but us ordered that and shared. Jesse ordered his own burger and I got a salad.

Teresa said we needed to go see the unique ladies bathroom.

We had some time to relax after returning home and agreed to meet at Bob & Janet’s for happy hour. Lots of laughs and good snacks were the ticket for this evening.

Tuesday Buddy had an appointment for grooming. I took him by myself and when shopping. I went to Dollar Tree and Walmart and made it back just in time to pick him up.

Jesse went to look at a truck. He is looking for a dually that we can trade to without paying too much money. He was very upset when he got to the dealership he had been communicating with, and found they had already wholesaled the truck.

In the late afternoon we rode our bikes over to E&M and B&J to say good bye and have a nice trip. They are taking a rode trip to the grand canyon for a couple of days. The six of us sat outside for a short while.

We came home and had dinner and just relaxed while watching TV. Janet had displayed these very neat looking lights when we were there earlier, so we rode back over to their place to see what it looks like at night. Really special and she gave us one. Thanks so much! She is selling them and hopes to get some interest within the park.

Wednesday we went to see Skyfall. We both enjoyed it. We also stopped at Petsmart to get the boys some food.

At home I grilled a pork tenderloin and roasted potatoes for dinner. It was yummy and we had a pleasant evening.
