We left this morning at 8am. The sun was trying to come out from behind the clouds, but couldn’t make it. We traveled south on Alaska 1 the entire day. Most of the 1st few hours it was misting.
We drove past Beluga Point on the Turnagain Arm Road. The water level was much higher then the other day.
The mountain ranges even in the clouds were just beautiful.
We stopped on one of the pull outs to stretch our legs. I took this pictures of Bob and Janet’s rig.
I also took this from the pull out.
We pulled into Country Boy Campground around 1pm.
We were greeted by Chuck the owner and Chuck Donely who had texted me earlier that he and Kathy were here.
We got set up and relaxed for about an hour. Then we went over to Chuck and Kathy’s for happy hour. The sun had finally came out and it was very pleasant to sit outside. We enjoyed talking with them and got a tour of their travel trailer. It was very nice and roomy for it’s size. They plan to move on tomorrow morning. We hope to see them again before we return to the lower 48.
It was my day to cook and I planned to grill brats and serve some side dishes. So Jesse got the grill out while I set things up inside.
We ate and then decided to take a ride to Deep Creek Recreation area. We were hopping to see some charter boats returning with their catch.
As we were leaving the campground we saw this moose. She had two babies with her, but I didn’t get their pictures because they all ran into the woods.
We drove through the State camping area. The cost is $10.00 per vehicle for a space no hook-ups, but you are right on the water.
We saw this one boat come in, but no charter boats. We also saw this guys fishing from the shore.
And this light house up on a hill.
We also saw seagulls and eagles
As we were returning to the campground I saw these wild flowers on the side of the road. Very pretty!
AND another eagle
