Fun, Fun Fun!!

Fun, Fun Fun!!

Monday, September 7 – Labor Day

Yesterday we didn’t do much but hang around the homestead.

Well we actually went out to breakfast at Luck E Star. Then stopped at a road side stand and bought tomatoes and corn, before returning home.

After relaxing for a short while I got busy in the kitchen and made some bread pudding and potato salad for dinner and dessert tonight. I also started some chicken corn soup for tomorrows dinner.

Also during this time I was doing laundry, I did 4 loads yesterday and have more to do today.

Jesse worked on securing the hangers that hold the electrical wiring on our slides. I don’t understand and really don’t need to, as that is a blue job.

Other workampers here do not know about blue and pink jobs, I have had to school many of them, I thought it was widely known.

After all our chores were done and we had rested Jesse built us a fire so we could roast some weenies.

After finishing our meal Darrell and Judy stopped by to say “see ya down the road”. They are leaving on Tuesday. It was nice to have a little more time with them before we depart and go our separate ways.

After we had everything cleaned up we were invited to join Don and Jane at there campfire to sit and visit.

It was nice to get to know these good people who are from Georgia. We hope to see them in February when we go through that area. They are coming back next year, so we can continue to get to know them.

It has been a very relaxing day and we look forward to many many more.

HAPPY LABOR

DAY !!!

Saturday, September 5 – Labor day Weekend

Well here it is, the last big week end of the season.  The theme for this week is Labor Day Fair.

IMG_0118 Fun n Games set up a carnival at the big top tent and Evergreen Square.  Here is a photo of the area in the morning as it is being set up.

IMG_0121 Here are some shots in the middle of the afternoon.  There was a dunking booth, pie in the face booth, face painting, tattoos, games, hot dogs, pop corn, cotton candy, and cold drinks.

IMG_0131 IMG_0132 IMG_0135 IMG_0138IMG_0125Ginger sold tickets with Olga, one of our Camp America students from Poland. Love the hats!!

IMG_0134 The campground is fairly full but not like it was for July 4.  And the crowd is somewhat quiet.  I thought with this being the last hurrah the campers would be letting it all hang out but not so which is fine with me.

Most of the work campers are leaving Tuesday or Wednesday.  Tuesday evening is a celebration for the work campers with food and a DJ.  We will be staying on for another 3 weeks.

Things will be slow during the week but we will get some decent business for the week ends until closing October 12.   No one will be left from the store after Wednesday so the remaining guest services people will run the front desk and the store at the same time.

Ginger will get around 30 hours but will still work 5 days.  Jesse will still be full time as they have much to do in preparation for shut down.  There are a few employees that will work year round.  Mostly the GM, Maintenance Chief,  Sales, and Comptroller.  Some of the full time locals will be laid off as needed by late November.

Once we get past the next few days, it will be lonely around here.  I think of the 56 work campers, only about 12 of us will still be here next week.  Of course the extra peace and quiet will just make it easier for us to plan our get away on the 27th.

Sunday, August 30 – Shopping and Fun

Today we lounged around home in the morning. Then around noon we went to Glen Falls to Walmart to do the shopping. Our shopping experience was uneventful, then home again to put everything away.

Afterward we did a quick straightening on our little home on wheels, I dusted while Jesse vacuumed. We were have Jane and Don over for the evening to play hand and foot, which is a card game for those of you who don’t know.

After that Jesse went out to the truck to remove the totes and board from the back seat so we could drive.

The 4 of us headed to The Lucky Star for some dinner around 4pm. 3 of us had open face sandwiches Don had roast beef, Jesse had hamburger steaks, and I had turkey. Jane had a hamburger, dinner was tasty.

Once we were back at the resort, they went home to get the cards while I fed the boys and set up.

I had some snacks for us to munch on. We have played this game several times and each time there have been differences in the rules, this was no exception. We still enjoyed ourselves very much and the girls won!

I had lemon meringue pie for dessert compliments of Edwards(thaw and serve). It was a lot of fun getting to know these good people better. They are also coming back to Lake George next year and we look forward to spending more time with them.

After they made the long journey next door, we watched Big Brother, There goes the Neighborhood and Design Star before going to bed.

Hugs to everyone.
